TANGEDCO identifies private power producers

Four private power producers have been shortlisted by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) to supply 1208 MW of electricity over 15 years. The move was taken to tackle the power shortage in the State.
‘The corporation has not issued orders yet… The agreement has selected DB Power Ltd to supply 208 MW, Jindal Power (400 MW), Ind Bharat Ltd (500 MW) and Balco (92 MW) at Rs 4.91/kwh. The agreement with private producers would be sealed only after completion of various stages involving the tendering process. We are hopeful of completing the procedure at the earliest to procure the deficit power’, said an official.
