Kalakshetra gets a new director

Kalakshetra is one of the prestigious institutions in India. Based in Chennai, it is the undisputed face of the classical arts.Leela Samson stepped down from the director post in the month of April 2012. This post was not filled till now. Now the Chennai-based Bharatanatyam dancer Priyadarshini Govind has been given this covetous post.
Priyadarshini Govind is a graduate of in commerce from the University of Madras, also holds a diploma in mass communication, while dance has always been her mainstay. From a young age, she trained under Kalanidhi Narayanan to specialize in Abhinaya (the art of expression) and took advanced lessons in Bharatanatyam from Swamimalai K. Rajaratnam of the Vazhvoor School.
