Vijayadasami was celebrated yesterday 15th of October with great happiness. The people went to the temples in huge numbers on the special day. It is known that the Tamil Nadu state government has given permission to open all the temples on the weekends.

As the number of persons increased inside the temples, no social distancing was maintained. People were allowed inside the temples only if they wore face masks.

Mylapore based Kapaleeswarar temple is highly famous and many went to this temple in the evening to have darshan. In the morning, there was not much crowd in this temple. After having darshan, many remained inside the temple premises and this resulted in overcrowding inside the temple. The devotees were sent off fast by the temple administration and inspite of this many devotees kept on coming for darshan.

Point is that to avoid overcrowding the priests and management were asked to avoid archanai. It is important to mention here that the priests did not accept fruits and flowers from the devotees. Temperature checking devices and sanitizers were placed at the entrance and the devotees were allowed inside the temple only after getting checked for temperature.  In Raja Annamalai Puram in Chennai is present Swamy Ayappan Temple there was not much crowd as just vidyabaram rituals were done. A devotee who visited this temple was happy that she could get the darshan of god easily.

It was mentioned that in some temples the crowd that gathered was much less than in the past as many did not know that the temples were open.
