There are reasons for Kathivakkam, Sholinganallur, Karapakkam and Ramapuram to be happy

People residing in Kathivakkam, Sholinganallur, Karapakkam and Ramapuram areas have no proper sewage system. People residing in these areas are solely dependent on septic or holding tanks. In case if there is a blockage, then there will be a great havoc. Now under the Chennai Mega City Development Mission schemes it has been decided to build underground sewage system at a cost of Rs 245.55 Crores.

46, 280 houses will be benefited by this scheme at Ramapuram alone. It has been planned to provide collection system with Stoneware pipes and cast iron pipes for a length of 49,104 meters with 1,927 manholes. The plan is also to build five sewage pumping stations. The cost of this work is estimated Rs 162.33 Crores.

Coming to Sholinganallur and Karapakkam, it has been decided to construct 10 sewage pumping stations with cast iron pumping main of a length of 12,350 meters with 3,557 manholes.

If all goes well, the people residing in the above areas can be assured of hygienic conditions.
