4 students from Trichy receive funding to go to Special Olympics

Trichy District Collector Jayashree Muralidharan distributed financial assistance of Rs. 20000 each for children who have qualified for the 2013 Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is an international competition for those with intellectual disabilities. It will be held in Australia this year.
The money was distributed by Ms. Muralidharan to four students of Asha Deepam Special School and the Blossom Special School. The four have mild to moderate mental retardation. Seven athletes from Trichy represented India in the previous Special Olympics that was held in Athens, and made the country proud by bringing back medals.
The funding was distributed during a public grievances meeting.
