Chennai man invents glove that speaks

Posted on: 08/Jul/2013 11:59:04 AM
25 year old Vinoth Guruswamy and his team have come up with a glove that will help people with speech difficulties to communicate easily. The team, from the University of Sheffield, comprises of Guruswamy, Kalhana Colombage (25) and Hossein Mohanna (28).

The three have been working with a 73 year old former steel worker who suffered a stroke. William Broad has been bed ridden and unable to talk since 2010. However, with the help of the glove, he is able to communicate simple sentences such as `I am hungry`, `I am thirsty`, `my name is William`, `thank you` and `what time is it`.

‘The glove is absolutely remarkable and has made such a difference for both dad and for the family’, said Mr. Broad’s daughter.
