The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin held a meeting with officials yesterday (Wednesday, 2nd June) to discuss the implementation of lockdown and its extension past 7 June.
It is gathered from reliable sources that officials have recommended easing restrictions in districts especially since Covid-19 cases are steadily coming down. The officials had also suggested intensifying the lockdown in western districts as the number of cases is high in that region.
As such, it is reasonably expected that some relaxations may be announced with the reduction trend in the spread of the resurgent coronavirus pandemic.
The Chief Minister asserted that the lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19 could not be extended endlessly! The pandemic could be eradicated only with the people’s full support and cooperation!
He observed, “We had to face the second wave because of the failure to put a full stop to the first wave! The second wave has posed a challenge to the State’s economy and health infrastructure!”
