In addition to providing access to banking services, Fino Payments Bank’s merchant outlets across the country aim to play a critical role in pushing the Covid-19 vaccination drive by helping people register online for vaccination.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and medical experts recommend vaccination for all as it is one of the best ways to protect self and others from Covid-19.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a person can register for COVID-19 vaccination in advance by logging into the Co-WIN portal (www.cowin.gov.in) or AarogyaSethu app. While a few on-spot registrations are available, online is recommended for hassle-free experience.

By helping the technologically challenged and people with no smartphones, Fino merchants join the millions of healthcare personnel and scores of volunteers in the country that are providing selfless service to the affected families. Himanshu Mishra Senior Divisional Head, Fino Payments Bank said, “Majority of the people in rural areas, especially senior citizens and women, are clueless about online registration leading to either delay or avoiding vaccination. They need assistance and as responsible citizens our merchants are ready to help. People can approach Fino merchants with their Aadhaar card and get the required registration done. The prevailing humanitarian crisis warrants such small acts of support on the ground to improve the effectiveness of the vaccination drive.”

Fino merchants will access the Co-WIN portal from their smartphones either directly or through Fino Mitra or BPay apps. To complete the registration process in the portal, merchant will provide mobile and Aadhaar number of the person who sought help. An OTP gets generated that needs to be filled in the required field resulting in an SMS message indicating successful registration.  People have the option to choose the vaccination centre and time slot. All one needs to do is show up at the vaccination centre to get the dose.

As per Health Ministry update, the total Covidvaccine doses given across India as on 23 May has crossed 21.80 crores. The list includes first and second doses to senior citizens, healthcare workers, frontline workers and those in the 45- 60 years and 18-44 years age groups.
