Is total lockdown there or not now? - People come out of their houses in huge numbers now in TN

Everything seems to be functioning normally now even in this complete lock down!! Shocking isnt it!!

Paying no heed to the strict restrictions imposed now, the people move about freely even now without bothering about the Covid-19 infection spread. This has been witnessed especially in the western districts belonging to TN.

The total lock down has been imposed now by the TN government for 2 weeks to control the spread of Covid-19 infection. Inspite of this lockdown, the arterial roads are full of vehicles and people movement. No social distancing is being followed by the public to safeguard themselves from the deadly infection. The shops have been shut down and there has been no bus movement on the roads but people move from one place to another even now.

Out of the fear for law enforcing agencies, people remained in their houses on the first day of the total lock down. The second day was totally different as the people came out to the streets to check if there was any punitive action taken.

On Wednesday, 12th May, people came out in large numbers outside when they came to know that no action was taken against them. There was a crowd everywhere even in this complete lockdown.

Unlike the previous total lock down last year, when the police personnel were tough with the people who ventured out of their homes, this time around they were not that strict. It must be remembered that in 2020 the police personnel received backlash when they behaved in a tough manner with those venturing outside during the total lockdown in TN. To prevent those wandering out in this lock down, the police personnel have not carried out vehicle checks also.

According to a police personnel attached to Singanallur police station it was clear that the people give some reason to evade action. He threw light on how the people must be responsible enough and must be indoors.

In Tirupur, the situation is even worse. Here relaxations have been given for the textile units to operate in the total lockdown time also. It was later brought out by Mr. Murthy, president of CITU affiliated Tirupur Baniyan Works Union, that to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection among workers, the TN government must suspend the relaxations soon. Truth is that about 100 to 1000 workers have been involved now in the production works and it could lead to the spread of the infection easily.
