Koyambedu – St. Thomas Mount line nearing completion

Chennai Metro Rail Limited’s (CMRL) elevated line from Koyambedu to St. Thomas Mount has gathered speed. Out of the proposed 12 kms of this line, 9.5 kms have been laid and it looks like the line will be completed before the deadline which is the end of the year.
‘Painting of the rail and welding of the rail joints are in progress. Nearly 2.5km of tracks have been painted… Metro rail is aiming for a year-end deadline as the state government has announced that services will begin by the middle of next year’, said a Metro Rail official.
