A new 500 bed COVID CARE CENTRE in Chennai

With more and more number of Covid-19 cases getting reported in Chennai, the GCC has now decided to open a 500 bed Covid care centre with an oxygen facility for the patients. The discussions regarding this have been going on now and tentative locations would be for south it would be Guindy Trade centre, Kilpauk indoor stadium for central zone and K.P. PARK for the north zone.
As per a GCC officer, the preparations to convert them into Covid care centres has already begun and the TN government would decide on the oxygen provision. Only the trained medical staff would be able to handle the oxygen pipelines and the supply. At these centres, now just asymptomatic patients are only present. The senior officer later hinted that the oxygen pipeline for oxygen supply would be installed when the TN government decides.
In February 2021, K.P. Park facility was closed down and it would reopen this week. The official later pointed out that this park was popular among patients for its facilities. It is leant that 4 blocks could be converted into Covid care centres and just 2 would be opened now. Information is that at present out of 11645 beds available at the Covid care centres as many as 2410 beds have been occupied.
