The lockdown has done it once again in Chennai now!!

It is well known that a few months back in the lockdown the streets of Chennai wore a deserted and empty look as the people spent their time in their homes. On Sunday, 25th April 2021, the complete shutdown has again resulted in the empty and deserted streets in Chennai. Businesses of many restaurants, hotels etc in Chennai came down hugely yesterday.

It must be noted that on Saturday (the previous day before the total lockdown) the crowd was huge in many places in Chennai. It is said that this huge crowd on Saturday was a counter initiative to the lockdown measure on Sunday. Yesterday, the traffic on the Chennai roads was extremely low and essential services were opened for the sake of the public. Truth is that some residents did not bother about venturing out of their homes for smaller works.

According to a resident from Thiruvanmiyur, the local grocery store was full of people on Saturday. She added that the shutdown made many to be at their homes compulsorily. Information is that the rush from the previous day has been worse and it has affected many. She concluded that due to the current Covid-19 situation the total lockdown on Sundays was superb. The businesses of all the restaurants suffered yesterday due to the complete shutdown. Many local businesses suffered badly as their business dropped 20 to 30percent yesterday.

According to the owner of a restaurant at Anna Nagar, there was below 20% business at his restaurant yesterday. He spoke about how all week there was less than 50% business only. Many were worried about ordering food in the total lockdown on Sunday. The residents of Chennai are now hoping that the restrictions from Monday would lead to the decrease in the number of Coronavirus cases soon.
