New service connection to be provided inside 3 days- Tangedco

One day service connection scheme for LT consumers was launched three years back.
The news that has come out now is Tangedco has given orders to its field officials to provide new service connection within three days if no extension work was needed.
It was on 1st July 2017 Tangedco made news when it introduced the one day service connection scheme for LT domestic and commercial services falling under the service connection category.
It must be noted that if the domestic and commercial buildings that needed connections were within 100m of the electricity mains then the connections would be provided within a day of time. If the work involved road cuttings, then it would be extended to 48 hours.
For the service connection, the supply must be made effective within 3 days and this was instructed by Tangedco.
It was mentioned by Tangedco distribution director in the instructions that for the extension categories the estimates should be sanctioned within 7 days and the service connection must be effected preferably before the time period prescribed in TNERC- Distribution Standard of Performance or DSOP regulation.
A new service connection for the LT consumers that involves any extension or improvement should be provided preferable within a week of time and it must not exceed 30 days. This was as per DSOP
Information is that in case it involves extension and improvement without distribution transformers the connection should take a minimum of 60 days. The service connection should be classified as an extension category in the LT billing software and this would be (after inspection) if the service connection involved extension works contrary to the self declaration of the applicants. This was as per the instruction. It is known that Tangedco was established in the year 2010 and is an electric power generation and distribution public sector undertaking owned by the TN government.
