Residents of Adyar, Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Kodambakkam and Thiru Vi Ka Nagar can now register for their Aadhar numbers. The biometric parameters and demographic details of the individual are being taken.
According to census department sources, �Only 14% of people in Chennai have registered for the resident identity cards under NPR. In Chennai, only 5.83 lakh people have registered their details of the 41.54 lakh people over age five. An Aadhaar number is required to be eligible for the LPG subsidy, which will start in Tamil Nadu on October 1.�
