Appeal from State Govt: Residents in the low-lying areas on the banks of Adyar may please move out!

There is an appeal from the State Government of Tamil Nadu for the residents in the banks of Adyar river to move out to safer places.

The excess water due to the downpour and excess inflow in the city’s main water reservoir in Chembarambakkam is to be let out at 12.00 Noon today |(Wednesday, 25th November). Hence, the residents living in the low-lying areas on either bank of the Adyar River are advised to move out to safer places.

Excess water from one of the Chennai |Metro City’s major drinking water resources, the Chembarambakkam Reservoir is being let out at 1000 cft per second. As such, there are prospects of floods in Adyar.

The residents in the low-lying areas in Sirukalathur, Kavanur, Kundrathur, and Thirumudivakkam have also been advised to move to safer locations.

Similarly, the residents in the low-lying areas on either side of the river banks in Vazhudhiyamnedu, Thiruneermalai, and Adyar have also been advised to move out immediately to safer locations.
