Water to be let out at 1000 cft from Chembarambakkam Reservoir!

Water is to be let out from one of the Chennai Metro City’s prominent drinking water resources, the Chembarambakkam Reservoir at 1000 cft per sec at 12.00 Noon today (Wednesday, 25th November).As such, the citizens residing in the low-lying areas near the reservoir banks have been advised to move out of these zones and arrangements are being made for the same.

The cyclone |Nivar, formed over the Bay of |Bengal, is slated to cross the coast at 12.00 Midnight today (Wednesday, 25th November) between Karaikkal and Mamallapuram. As such, precautionary activities have been undertaken  

Meanwhile, due to the prevailing heavy downpour at present, and the water height in Chembarambakkam having crossed the maximum of 24’, it has been announced that WATER WOULD BE LET OUT OF THE RESERVOIR AT 12.00 NOON (WEDNESDAY, 25TH NOVEMBER) AT 1000 CFT PER SECOND.

It has been further announced the residents in the low-lying areas on the sides of the passage of the water into the sea are being shifted to safer locations. It may be noted that the last time water was let pout from Chembarambakkam Reservoir was in the year 215 when 33000 cft of water was let out.
