More and more matric schools turning to CBSE

Posted on: 05/Jun/2013 7:18:24 PM
Sources say that a large number of matriculation schools have moved to the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) syllabus. The red tape and bureaucracy seem to be the main reasons for the shift. Many teachers also prefer the ‘non rote’ method of learning.

‘Tthere had been several cases where parents had admitted their children from matriculation to CBSE school as they think samacheer kalvi would not provide their kids with quality education. This year, about 100 more matriculation schools in the state have approached CBSE for affiliation so we expect the number to cross 600 schools. CBSE schools have unfettered freedom to collect any amount
they want as fees and the CBSE board has limited control over them, which makes private schools turn to CBSE’, said Secretary of Tamil Nadu Schools Association K.R. Nandakumar.
