Willing or not to send children to the schools in TN?

Posted on: 30/Sep/2020 8:54:43 AM
Recently, it was announced that schools would be reopened for the students studying classes from 10th to 12th in TN from 1st October 2020. It is known that TN government has put a hold on the reopening of the schools for the students of above said classes.

The latest news is that the parents of students belonging to private and government schools gave different views on this school reopening in TN.

As per the private school management it was clear that most parents were willing to send their kids to the schools but the response of the parents of the students belonging to government schools were poor.

The guidelines were issued by the Centre and the TN government had proposed allowing the students from classes 10 to 12 to come to the schools from 1st of October on the voluntary basis after getting permission from their parents.

It must be noted that the school education department gave permission for 50 percent teachers to work in the schools except those in the containment zones. Later, consent forms were distributed to all parents about their willingness in sending their kids to the schools.

It was brought out by Mr. P.K. Illamaran, president TN Teachers Association, the response from the parents was poor. He added that no parents showed interest to know about the status of the GO regarding schools reopening.

He explained that consent forms were sent to all the parents and through messages the parents were asked to bring their forms on 1st October if they had willingness to send their kids to the schools. Truth is that not many children would be coming back to the schools in this critical situation.

It is worthy to note that the schools would be kept open even for a single kid if he or she wants to get the doubts clarified with the teacher.

The general secretary of TN Nursery, Primary, Matriculation, Higher secondary and CBSE Schools Association, Mr. K.R. Nandhakumar mentioned that more than 90% of the parents want the schools to be reopened as soon as possible. Private school managements view is now in total contrast with the government schools.
