Special trains to be organised from Tami Nadu to Kerala and Karnataka!

With 17 special trains already in operation in Tami Nadu, the Railways have agreed to operate a further 3 additional special trains.

These proposed additional special trains are being operated from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram, Mysore, and Mangalore. Out of these, the advance booking (reservation) for 2 of the trains is set to commence from today at 8.00 AM (Friday, 25th September)

Presently, there are 13 special trains being operated within the state of Tamil Nadu and 3 special trains are operated from Tami Nadu to other states.

Apart from this, the special Chennai-Delhi Rajdhani is already in operation. Thus, there are a total of 17 special trains in operation.

In this scenario, the Railway Board has agreed to operate 3 additional special trains.

The trains will operate from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai to Mangalore, and Chennai to Mysore.

Out of these, the reservation or advance booking for the 2 trains starting from Chennai MGR Central to Thiruvananthapuram and to Mangalore is set to commence today at 8.00 AM (Friday, 25th September),

A separate announcement is expected to be made shortly regarding the operation of Chennai- Mysore service.

Chennai - Thiruvananthapuram

This special superfast express train (02623) starts at 7.45 PM daily from Chennai MGR Central Station daily and will reach Thiruvananthapuram at 11.45 AM the next day forenoon.

On the return trip, this train (02624) will start daily at 3.00 PM from Thiruvananthapuram  and will reach Chennai MGR Central Station the next day morning at 7.40 AM.

The 1st train is scheduled to commence from Chennai MGR Central on 27th September and from Thiruvananthapuram on 28th September.

Chennai - Mangalore

This superfast express train (02601) will start daily from Chennai MGR Central Station at 8.10 PM and will reach Mangalore the next day at 12.10 PM.

On the return trip, the superfast express train (02602) will start daily from Mangalore Station at 1.30 PM and reach Chennai MGR Central Station at 5.35 AM next morning.

The 1st Service of this train is set to commence from Mangalore Station on 27th September and from Chennai MGR Central Station on 28th September.

Guidelines
  • Passengers must wear facemasks.
  • Body temperature scan test will be taken at the station entrance. So the passengers must arrive at the station 90 minutes earlier.
