A low pressure area system formed in the north Bay of Bengal,resulting to fall in temperature in the city.
Tamilnadu Meteorological Department officials said,"the temperatures are likely to fall further. Heat wave conditions that wreaked havoc for more than days, claiming nearly 1,000 lives, abated in the entire State. As a result, sunstroke deaths were not reported from anywhere for the time being."
As per an earlier prediction, the monsoon would come only on June 9, three days behind its normal arrival on June 6. For now, the conditions were stated to be favourable for advancement of the monsoon over parts of the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
