Plant in Mettur Power Station taken off the grid

The Mettur Thermal Power Station�s Stage III Project has shut down for Major repair work. The plant produces 600 MW of power.
Says an official at TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation), �The generation in the new unit has been suspended to replace the defective bo�iler burner� Last mo�nth, we had noticed some pr�ob�lem in the plant�s boiler bu�rner which needs to be replaced. However, due to increase in the demand for power, we (could) not af�f�o�rd suspension of power ge�neration in the plant. Now with increase in the wind power generation, we are in a position to me�et the demand without the pl�a�nt. Since the boiler burners have to be imported from China, work is expected to be completed only by July 10.�
