Sunday Temperature hits a new high

The temperature on Sunday was the highest recorded in May over the last 10 years. Nungambakkam recorded a record high of 42.7 degree Celsius and a minimum of 31.3 degree Celsius, while at Meenambakkam the mercury level touched 42.8 degree Celsius with a low of 30.5 degree Celsius.
Meteorological department officials said it would be partly cloudy but uncomfortable hot on Monday. However, a few areas including Maraimalai Nagar and its surroundings received light showers on Sunday.
