Domestic travelling is a hassle due to lack of uniformity in e-pass rules

Domestic travelling especially for those who have to travel at short notice is a hassle now. This has been mainly due to the lack of uniformity in the e-pass rules and requirements.

For the arriving passengers to fill up the details for the pass, airports have a counter. It has been pointed out that the airports in TN, Kerala and Maharashtra (the most travelled destinations) insist on the passengers carrying an e-pass on arrival.

It is worthy to note that Telangana does not ask the passengers for an e-pass whereas other states like TN, Kerala, Karnataka, Himachal and Chhattisgarh insist the travellers to take an e-pass before their arrival. There are few states such as UP, Andhra, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Uttrakhand etc that want the travellers to register.

It is now revealed that the lack of uniformity causes many issues for the passengers and these obstruct the attempts to boost the domestic travel growth even in an unlock period.

Even for flyers, applying for an e-pass online for travelling at short notices would lead to many hassles. Information is going by road is near impossible or tougher. Just emergency visits and business travel for 48 hours have been allowed by the authorities.
