Availability of ICU Beds etc shown by COVID dashboard data is totally different from reality

If one goes by the Covid-19 dashboard managed by the health department then there are many ICU beds and ventilators available in more than 200 hospitals. In reality, what is available in the hospitals is totally different.

Many Coronavirus affected patients and their relatives have been facing huge difficulties in searching about these above mentioned facilities in the hospitals. In addition to this, the helpline does not work properly or they just take complaints only against government facilities. It is important to note that some of the private hospitals have been verified for the availability of vacant beds as per the dashboard information.

At a private hospital in Arumbakkam, the dashboard displayed the presence of 2 ICU beds vacant but in reality the hospital had just oxygen supported beds but no beds in the ICU. It must be remembered that a few days back a private hospital in Shenoy Nagar did not give admission to a 60 year old diabetic Coronavirus patient in the ventilator supported bed even though the dashboard mentioned the presence of 2 beds.

The availability of dashboard does not ensure vacancies as the data was not correct. This was according to the hospital authorities. After a long time of 18 hours, the hospital then admitted the patient in an oxygen supported bed.

In a private hospital in Royapettah, the dashboard revealed the presence of 2 beds out f 3 beds were vacant in ICU but actually there were no ICU beds. This has been brought to light by a 57 year old female Coronavirus patient who tried to get admitted there.

Every day, concerns about the dashboard information not tallying with that in reality has been raised by fewer Covid-19 patients and these are not isolated issues. Point is there are no platforms to address these issues faced by the Coronavirus patients.
