Central Government permits testing of the Oxford University coronavirus vaccine!

Indian Medical Commission has granted permission to facilitate the 2nd and the 3rd Phase tests of the vaccine invented by the UK Oxford University by the serum Institute in India.

The raging coronavirus pandemic has seriously affected the entire world with several countries already researching for the cure for this raging pandemic for which cure is yet to be found!

In one such effort, Englands Oxford University, jointly with Astra Zeneca, has invented a vaccine for coronavirus which has been tested successfully in the 1st Phase of tests.

Serum Institute of India had applied to the Indian Medical Commission for permission to go ahead with the 2nd and 3rd Phase of tests on humans in India on 25th March. The Medical Commission has now granted permission for the same.

In this regard the officials of the Indian Medical Commission shared:

After extensive review, permission has been granted to undertake the testing of the coronavirus vaccine invented by the Oxford University, UK, jointly with Astra Zeneca, on humans in the 2nd and 3rd Phase of the tests. It has been emphasized on the letter granting the above permission that the Serum Institute has to send a detailed report after conducting the 2nd Phase of the vaccine tests on humans.

Only after analyzing this detailed report, and the Commission providing feedback to the serum Institute, the 3rd Phase of the test may be taken up. As planned earlier, the invented vaccine will be administered twice on humans. After the 1st administration of the vaccine, close monitoring will be undertaken on the patients body changes and conditions and detailed research will be carried out. After 29 days, the vaccine will be administered for the 2nd time for further research.

Serum Centre has planned to carry out the tests of the different medicines in various places in the country on 1600 persons above 18 years of age. Accordingly, the Serum Institute has planned to carry out tests in 17 places, including Delhi AIIMS, Jodhpur AIIMS, Gorakhpur Nehru Hospital, Andhra Medical College Hospital in Visakhapatnam, and JSS Research Institute in Mysore.

The Oxford University vaccine tests are in the 2nd and 3rd Phase Tests in Britain, 3rd Phase tests in Brazil, and in the 1st and 2nd Phase of tests in South Africa.

Serum Insitute has already entered into an Agreement with Astra Zeneca to manufacture this vaccine.

In the above scenario, it is now all set to undertake the 2nd and 3rd Phase of Tests in India.
