Decrease in COVID cases in the Chennai city confirmed

In the month of June, the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus infection every day in Chennai was 2393 and it has come down to just 1095 in this month of August. This has been possible due to micro-level planning. This was confirmed by the fisheries and administrative minister Mr. D. Jayakumar.
He explained how the Coronavirus infection that was just 3 per day in the month of March increased to 2393 per day and how in the last few weeks this infection has been on the decline in Chennai. It must be noted that on Monday a review meeting was held by the municipal administrative minister Mr. S.P. Velumani and fisheries minister Mr. D.Jayakumar took part in that meeting.
Team effort:
The fisheries and administrative minister later mentioned that it was a collective team effort that was responsible for this decline in the Coronavirus infection cases in Chennai. About 39000 workers were deployed for the containment measures in Chennai and all the neighborhoods were focussed.
It is sad to mention that as many as frontline 13 workers have died due to Coronavirus infection while they were in their work. The YTN government would provide compensation for these frontline workers. Over 10% of residents belonging to Chennai have been tested for the infection and that over 7.5lakh has been tested.
Number of streets in Chennai with active Covid-19 cases has decreased now and this strategy would be followed in other parts of TN too. Chennai has got as many as 39537 streets and out of those only 5549 streets have active cases and the remaining 33988 streets do not have any active cases. This was pointed out by Mr. S.P. Velumani. He added that more than 89,000 people have recovered from the infection.
