Dos and Donts: Chennai citizens from Monday 6th July!

News regarding the new guidelines to be followed strictly in the 4 districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram from tomorrow (Monday, 6th July):

“A 100% lockdown has been imposed in the 4 districts of Tamil Nadu - Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram - especially because of the impact/intensity of the raging coronavirus pandemic was quite severe and increasing in these areas as a preventive measure against the spread from 19th June. This 100% lockdown imposition, without any relaxations, is set to conclude today (Sunday, 5th July). A set of new relaxed guidelines have been released which is to be followed from Monday, 6th July.
  • Tea shops - only parcel - will be allowed to function from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
  • For the food shops/hotels/restaurants located in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metro Police, they will be allowed to function only for parcels from 6.00 AM to 9.00 PM.
  • For the food items ordered on Phone and delivery services, these will be allowed to function until 8.00 PM for home deliveries.
  • The employees/staff engaged in the above functions must procure identity badges from their employers and must wear them during service.
  • Vegetable shops and grocery shops will be allowed to function from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
  • Apart from the commercial complexes, all other showrooms, large shops (Jewelry, Textile, etc.), will be allowed to function from 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM as per the guidelines already announced to be strictly followed.
  • Autos and Call Taxis may operate with minimum passengers. Information Technology Concerns are allowed to function with 50% of staff.
  • The industries/production plants/factories may function with minimum employees from 6th July.
  • The government offices will function with 50% staff on a rotation basis.
  • Hair-dressing salons and Beauty Parlous are allowed to function WITHOUT AIR-CONDITIONERS otherwise strictly following the guidelines as given by the government.
