The Chief Minister Edappadi. K. Palanisawamy announced that the provisions at the ration shops will be sold for no cost all over the state. Reviewing the pandemic situation in the state, the CM said that all the products will be old for free like that of the previous months of April, May, and June. Presently, Sugar, Dal, and Palm Oil are provided for free from July 1 to 6 by issuing tokens to the cardholders.

Due to the continuous lockdown in the state for 100 days to combat the virus spread, many people have lost their jobs and livelihood. In spite of the continuous quarantine, the virus has spread rapidly and the government has extended the lockdown until the end of July.  In view of this, the CM has announced in the month of April to provide all the cardholders with free ration goods and with a compensation amount of Rs.1000. As the lockdown has been extended further, the order to provide free goods has also been expanded to June.

Since the pandemic is not yet on control and the lockdown still pursues in the month of July, CM has issued a GO stating to provide rationed goods such as Sugar, Dal and Cooking oil each one kg and rice grains as per the previous issues free of cost to all the cardholders.  As per this order, the tokens to collect the free goods will be issued to all the cardholders to their house from 6 to 9 July after the complete lockdown.
