Amma Unavagams to go to other Corporations

With the overwhelming response to the Amma Unavagams, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa announced that the facility would be extended to nine more corporations in the State. She also announced an extended menu that would include ‘evening tiffin’.
The low cost food outlets would open soon in Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Salem, Tirupur, Tuticorin, Vellore and Erode. As a first phase operation, 10 places will have the outlets within the month.
With effect immediately, the canteens will offer pongal with sambar at Rs. 5 during breakfast and lemon rice and curry leaves rice at Rs. 5 during lunch. This would be in addition to the existing menu. An addition from September would be 2 chapathis and dal which will be sold at Rs. 3 during the evening.
