11 more engineering colleges to open

Anna University has announced that they will open 11 more engineering colleges in the State. This would mean around 3 lakh more seats that will be made available. However, as per the data of admissions for the last academic year, it is doubtful how many of these seats will be filled. Tamil Nadu currently has 520 engineering colleges. After admissions last year, almost 70,000 seats remained not filled.
‘Each of the 11 colleges, distributed across the state, will have 300 seats in various engineering disciplines, adding another 3,300 seats to a tally of 2.68 lakh existing seats’, said Vice Chancellor of Anna University, Dr. P. Kaliraj.
