Temperatures to rise in the coming days

Owing to the crossing of Cyclone Mahasen and the onset of the Kathri period of Agni Nakshatiram, temperatures in the city are likely to soar over the next few days. According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, Thursday was the hottest day in the month of May. Temperatures touched 40.6 degree Celsius on Thursday, it did not help that the humidity was 75 %.
‘The heat wave is likely to continue for the next few days. There has been a steady rise in the temperature over the last two days. From 37.6 degree Celsius on Tuesday, the temperature rose to 39.1 degree Celsius on Wednesday… The temperature may touch 42 degree Celsius on Friday’, said a Met. Dept. official.
