Chennai tops 4 metros with respect to working women

A survey has shown that Chennai has the most number of working women when compared to the four main metropolitan cities in the country. 20% of Chennai�s women earn a living. Mumbai is second at 19%, Kolkata at 18% and Delhi at 11%. Security and safety are the key factors that contribute to this number. Other factors are its conservative and traditional mind set coupled with the ability to adjust to global trends.
�Tamil Nadu is often mistaken as a conservative society in terms of social attitudes to women`s attire and their conduct, but in the matter of education and career, women have lately been given more licence� Another reason for the rise in women`s is the kind of education they typically pursue here, with professional courses related to IT, computer science and analytics taking precedence over the humanities�, says a city based sociologist.
