Chennai city to have thunderstorms and rains

The southwest monsoon wind plus heat wave would be responsible for the thunderstorms and light to moderate rains in Chennai and in 12 districts of TN in the next 24 hours. This was according to the Chennai based Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC.

For the next 24 hours, Chennai district along with other districts such as Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Thanjavur, Karaikal, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari would have thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall.

It has been brought out by Mr. Puviarasan, director, RMC, Chennai that sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy and in some places belonging to Chennai city there would be light to moderate rainfall.

Important point is the maximum temperature is likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 29 degree Celsius. It must be noted that for the next 48 hours the condition of the sky is likely to be partly cloudy.

Mr. Puviarasan later threw light on the rainfall recorded in various districts of TN in the last 24 hours. Three cm of rains was recorded in Nilgris, 2cm rains in Kanniyakumari, 2cm rains in Coimbatore and 1cm each in Thirupatur, Dharmapuri and Dindigul.
