It has been announced by the TN state government that 17 industrial estates of TN could start functioning from today, 25th May 2020. This has been done mainly to revive the economy that has come down due to the total lock down.
The government release stated that 17 industrial estates in TN could start functioning with 25 % staffs from Monday, 25th May onwards. This included industrial estates in places like Guindy, Ambattur etc in Chennai. Important point is workers belonging to the containment zones would not be allowed for work.

For operating the industrial estates, TN has issued stringent guidelines.

It must be taken into account that the work places must be sanitized every morning and every evening and workers must wash their hands periodically. Every morning, when the workers come to work they must be thermally scanned for Corona virus infection.

Social distancing must be maintained in the work places and the workers must wear face masks compulsorily. Workers who are above 55 years of age would not be allowed for work. The toilets present in the workplaces must be cleaned atleast once in every 2 hours.

It was mentioned in the government release the any worker showing symptoms must be stooped immediately from doing the work. Industrial units must provide their support in the fight against Corona virus infection and it has asked the industrial units to strictly adhere to the SOP or standard operating procedures.

It must be remembered that since 24th of March all the industrial operations have been closed due to total lock down. This had resulted in the crumbling of TN economy. Many lost their live hoods. It is known that in the subsequent lock downs relaxations were provided for the industries in rural places of TN and the industrial clusters belonging to Chennai did not function.
