Consumers to avail cooking gas subsidy

The proposal for subsidies for cooking gas cylinders has been approved by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The project will be launched in 20 districts in June. If successful, it will be implemented across the country by October.
The Centre has already passed an order to integrate the Aadhar system with bank accounts to ensure smooth operations. If this program goes as per plan, consumers will be able to avail a subsidy of almost Rs. 4 crores a year. Cylinders will then be sold at market price – currently Rs. 901 for a 14.2 kg cylinder.
