More than 600 cases of Corona virus from Koyambedu market now

If you have been to Koyambedu market in Chennai just recently, then please be careful!!

The important piece of news is Koyambedu wholesale market has emerged as one of the biggest clusters of Covid-19 infection now in Tamil Nadu.

The cluster accounted for more than 600 cases till Monday, 4th May and was the reason for the spread of this infection to atleast half the state. This was as per some officials.

On Monday, TN reported the largest ever Corona virus positive cases on a single day with 527 cases. The health department has pointed out that the large number of Covid-19 cases was linked to the Koyambedu market.

It must be taken into note that the majority of infected persons were vendors, daily wage labourers and their contacts. An official belonging to the department of health spoke about how cases from the cluster began to emerge last week and how by Monday the cases have spread to half of TN. Information collected is districts like Ariyalur and Perambalur reported positive cases among persons who had visited Koyambedu market. Among those who had returned from Koyambedu market, as many as 107 were tested Covid-19 positive from Cuddalore.

It is important to mention that in many districts the administrations have asked persons who visited the market to report to the officials. It is now said that the persons who had tested positive from Chennai have got more contacts. Another official pointed out that it was impossible to get the contact list of persons who had visited the market.
