Chennai, TN fares average in IIT JEE

Students from the south of India who took the IIT JEE exams have not fared as well as the other regions this year. Those who appeared from Tamil Nadu accounted for just 10% of the total number of students who were selected. Only around 2600 students appeared from Chennai. Another 500 or so appeared from the rest of Tamil Nadu.
The IIT JEE competitive exams will enable the aspirant to get into the IITs, the National Institutes of Technology and other top brass institutions. Mumbai’s student representation was the most at 33000. 24000 candidates qualified from the Delhi Region.
Teachers in Chennai say, ‘Though engineering is a craze, most students in the state do not appear to have what it takes, especially when it comes to the application of concepts, to ace the JEE (Main).’
