Notification from the State Government Department of Public Relations

The following notification has been released by the Department of Public Relations of the State Government of Tamil Nadu:

The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has appealed to the organizations of different industry sectors and other companies and the common citizens to contribute to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund during this critical period faced by the citizens and the Central and State governments with the raging coronavirus pandemic.

The central government Department of Large Companies Affairs has clarified through its circular No. 10/2020 dated 23rd March 2020 that the funds contributed by the large organizations will be considered as a part of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) as indicated in the Schedule VII/Companies Act 2013, Item Nos. (i) And (IX) on the issues of public welfare activity, public welfare improvement, prevention of disease, Health, Cleaning Operations, and Disaster Management.

So, as per the order of the National Disaster Management Commission dated 24th March, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has released a Government Order that the contributions made to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund from 24th March until 30th June can be used for the expenditures pertaining to the raging coronavirus pandemic spread prevention activities.
  • Procurement of individual protection equipment
  • The consumable items required for the hospitals, and the procurement of medical equipment such as ventilators
  • Isolating and related facilities for isolation
  • Infrastructure for general health and setting up preventive health maintenance activities.
  • Offering free food for the homeless-poor and migrant workers
  • Offering of dry food items
Thus, here is an appeal to the large organizations and other companies/factories/institutions to consider the Income Tax Concession availed through this contribution, to contribute whole-heartedly and liberally to the Chief Minister’s Fund to facilitate the state government to undertake the ongoing preventive activities in even a better manner! Thanks.
