Roads to be laid in added areas

Savings from the mega city development mission will now be used to lay roads to added areas or places that have interior roads. The use of savings amounting to Rs. 100 crores for this purpose has been approved. The amount had originally been kept aside for Chennai Metro Rail work but work in some places have been delayed or not completed due to other issues.
Interior roads will be laid in the added areas of Thiruvottiyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Ambattur, Valasarawakkam, Alandur, Sholinganallur and Perungudi.
The mega city development project includes tasks that will improve civil infrastructure such as more streetlights, street furniture, footpaths, better storm water drains etc.
