Physiotherapists across the city rallied recently to demand a Council to govern them. There are thousands of physiotherapists in Chennai who run their own practices or are attached to other hospitals. To formalize their group, a rally was conducted at Egmore by the Physiotherapist Federation of Tamil Nadu and the Indian Medical Society for Physiotherapy. The participants want a separate council for Chennais practitioners that would educate those who wish to follow their lead and to create jobs for those who are qualified.
Founder of Bangalores Physiotherapists Network (BPN) Dr. Dhananjayan was present at the rally along with hundreds of practitioners across Tamil Nadu. They said that the resolution will be passed on to the Government shortly.
