By the year 2022, 9 more malls to come up in Chennai

The peripheries of Chennai have expanded and Chennai has grown well in the last decade.
There was economic turbulence in 2019 and Chennai residential, as well as commercial sectors, showed resilience is known. It is now said that along with these two sectors the retail format has held its fort through this turbulence.
In the future, there would be new malls in Chennai city and this would be due to sustained demand and consumption. By the end of the year 2022, as many as 9 malls would be coming up in Chennai city and these malls would be built over an area of 5.1 million square feet. This was as per ANAROCK research study.
Different laces in Chennai that would have new malls would be Navalur, Saligramam, OMR, Anna Nagar, Perambur etc. Across various cities and in towns in India, many malls would be coming up by the end of 2022. It must be taken into account that the south Indian would have more than one-third of these new malls and there would be as many as 35 new malls.
Truth is Chennai would be the second city after Hyderabad to have atleast 12 new malls. The city of Bengaluru would also have as many as9 new malls by the year 2022 and these malls would be spread across an area of 5 million square feet. The top 7 cities in India have totally 105 malls spread 50 million sq ft and Chennai city has got 10 operational malls spread over 5.9 million sq ft area.
