Days to be hot in Chennai till the end of the week

The persistent warm sea breeze is playing its role now in rising the temperature in Chennai.

It is now brought out that cold breezy nights and pleasant days are over in Chennai and the days would be hot till the weekend. It has been mentioned by some weathermen that the maximum and minimum temperatures would be above the normal for the next 4 days.

Presently, Chennai is getting southerly and south-easterly winds and that is due to the presence of anti-cyclone over the Bay of Bengal. The winds are calm in the interior regions of TN but the southerly winds reach about 30km into the land. This has been the reason for the higher temperature there. This was as per Mr N. Puviarasan, Area Cyclone Warning Centre of Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai.

The condition of the sky is likely to be clear and in the early morning`s mist is likely to take place in some areas. This was according to the prediction by IMD. For the next 48 hours in Chennai, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively.

Nungambakkam recorded 32.2 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 32.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The skies were mostly clear and the winds were warm in Chennai. These temperatures were 2.4 degrees and 2.7 degrees respectively above the normal is known.

Before sunrise, in Nungambakkam, the minimum temperature recorded was 22.1 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 21.1 degrees Celsius and these were 1degree Celsius and 0.2 degree Celsius above the normal. In the month of January, Chennai gets cold winds from the north and this was as per the weather experts.

Mr Mahesh Rawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet weather expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how there were excessive rains in the northern places like UP, Punjab and MP and how the temperatures in these places were low.
