The Manager P. Mahesh of the Chennai Railways Division has informed that during the 1st 9 months of the financial year 2019-20, the Division has earned Rs. 2465.55 Crores and has thus set a record!
The 71st Republic Day was celebrated on behalf of the Chennai Railway Division at Chennai Park Town. Manager P. Ramesh was the special guest for this occasion. He hoisted the National Flag and watched acknowledging the parade by the Indian Railway Protection Force. Addressing the gathering, he shared:
�During the 1st 9 months of the financial year 2019-20, the Chennai Railway Division has transported 6875 Metric Tonnes of Goods and thus has set a record. 293 rakes were utilized for the automobile section. Through this, a revenue of Rs. 73.36 Crores were earned by the Chennai Railways Division.
As compared with the previous year�s statistics, this is higher by 17.83%. �During the 1st 9 months of the financial year 2019-20, the Chennai Railway has earned revenue of Rs. 2465.55 Crores and thus has created a record!
On ticket-checking alone, it has earned Rs. 15 Crores. On the punctuality aspect regarding the timely arrival or departure as per schedule, the mail/express trains performance was 80.7% and others, 89.86%
As the solar power plant stations were set up in Arkonam, Katpadi, Tambaram, Royapuram, Moore Market Complex, Jolarpettai, and Chengalpet, there was a saving amounting to Rs. 38.98 Lakhs.
During the year 2019, an amount of Rs. 40.82 Crores was spent on passenger facilities. Escalators were installed at the Egmore and Katpadi Railway Stations. An electric crane was installed at Arkonam Railway Station.
Further, Wi-Fi facility has been installed in 135 Railway Stations in the Chennai Railway Division.�
