New measures announced for police personnel

Perks for policemen in Tamil Nadu increased as Chief Minister cum Home Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa made announcements for the same in the Assembly on Tuesday.
�While 30 police deputy superintendent of police(DSPs) will be hired, at least 17,138 police constables, 1,091 sub-inspectors, 1,004 fire men and 292 jail wardens will be recruited this year� As many as 4,800 police quarters will be built at a cost Rs 575 crore in the state. (My) government is also likely to constitute the promised Tamil Nadu special youth brigade this year, comprising 10,500 personnel�, she said.
Risk allowances have also been hiked for police personnel ranging from constables to DSPs.
