People often feel bored when they have to wait (due to flight delay etc) to receive a passenger at the Chennai airport.
PVR Cinemas is the largest multiplex in India. It is now said that the Chennai airport would have 5 screens of PVR Cinemas. By this, the Chennai airport would become the first-ever to show films.
A multi-level car parking complex is under construction here and the upcoming 5 screens of PVR Cinemas would be present in this car parking. Olympia Group has been involved in the construction of this Rs 250 crore multi-level car parking at the airport and apart from the theatre, there would also be available a host of options for food and beverage in the car parking complex.
Mr. Pramod Arora, chief growth and strategy officer, PVR Ltd, spoke about how there would be 5 screens roughly over 1000 seats. He added that the screens would be present in the complex constructed by Olympia Group. By the second half of 2021, the facility at the Chennai airport would start functioning.
The Chennai airport is the part of the city and due to this 80 percent of the people from the city and 20 percent transit passengers (target audience) would be coming to the theatre and it would be superb. An amount of Rs 15 crore would be invested by the PVR Cinemas. It must be taken into account that there are 292 active screens in Chennai city with a total of 118,500 seats.
The theatre would come up at the third or fourth level of the parking lot and popular hypermarket might also make its presence felt at the complex. It was brought out by some officials belonging to AAI that the multi-level parking would be completed and would be thrown open for people from the October month.
The passengers would be able to park their cars, shop and watch films at the parking complex. At either side of the Chennai metro rail station, the parking facility would be present and it could accommodate 2000 cars.
