As the quantity of transported drumstick has dwindled, drumstick was being sold at the astronomic price of Rs. 400 per kg!
Drumstick is regularly being transported on a daily basis from areas such as Perambalur, Ottanchathiram, Theni, Tirunelveli, and Virudhchalam, etc.
As the season for the drumstick harvest is now over, the quantity of drumstick arriving from the above transport system has dwindled considerably!
Now, the drumstick is being transported from the other states like Gujarat and Maharashtra by train! However, even here, instead of the usual 3000 bags of drumstick which used to arrive, only 200 bags of drumstick arrive during the current period!
Drumstick was sold at Rs. 250 per kg 2 days ago. Yesterday, only 40 bags of drumstick arrived from other states. So, drumstick was being sold at Rs. 400 per kg!
The price has shot up such that a single drumstick is sold at Rs. 50!
Thus, the public has been constrained to stop buying drumstick!
The traders shared in this regard:
This rising trend in drumstick price will prevail until the Pongal festival! Only thereafter, there are prospects of drumstick price coming down!
