One or two spells of rain this weekend in Chennai

The latest news is in this weekend, Chennai city would get one or two spells of rains.
The sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy and light rains are likely to occur in some places. This was according to the prediction made by the meteorological department.
The meteorological department has been guarded in its forecast of rains though the private weather bloggers are expecting Chennai city to get good spells of rains on Saturday and Sunday. There could be light rains in Chennai on Saturday and this was as per an official belonging to the meteorological department. There is no clarity about the rains on Sunday because the forecast for the next 48 hours had not mentioned it.
The Chennai city might get a spell of isolated rains that might not be intense or continuous like previous spells that created floods in the neighbourhoods of south Chennai. The easterly wave might bring rains in Chennai and this was as per some private weather bloggers. Point is a convergence of low-level winds with easterly winds is an ideal situation to trigger rains in Chennai.
Some parts belonging to Chennai city got drizzles on Friday and the suburbs did not receive any rains. It is known that Chennai suburbs have been getting rains in the morning and night earlier in the week. It is worth mentioning that Nungambakkam got the trace of rains whereas Meenambakkam did not get any rains on Friday.
The high atmospheric pressure has resulted in the dry spell in this week and the water deficit has increased from 8% to 10% in Chennai. It is now expected that the intense rains in the weekend would improve the water situation. There is no sign of low pressure or cyclone over the Bay of Bengal that could bring heavy rains to north coastal places in TN.
