The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has estimated that there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains in 14 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu including Tirunelveli and Thoothukkudi.

The low-pressure zone which formed over the southwest Arabian Sea may further intensify and developed into a depression zone and then into a cyclone.

As the winds over the east sea are being absorbed and a cyclonic format has developed. Also, there is a depression zone over the southwest Bay of Bengal.  Due to these 2 reasons, there are heavy rains in Tamil Nadu.

There are prospects for intermittent mild to medium rain in the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs.

As high-speed winds at 40 to 50 kmph are likely to blow across the Bay of Mannar, Maldives, Lakhdivs, Bay of Bengal, and Sri Lanka regions, the fishermen in these areas are warned NOT to venture into the sea.
