Chennai warm now but rains to return back next week

Posted on: 09/Nov/2019 9:53:02 AM
Cyclone ‘Bulbul’ is has been making huge noises in the last few days is known to us. This cyclone moved towards West Bengal –Bangladesh now. As a result of this, Chennai has become warm now.

It must be taken into account that the day temperature peaked at 35.1 degree Celsius. The weathermen have predicted that by the middle of next week Chennai city would get rains again. This would be due to low atmospheric pressure that would have developed after the cyclone had made land fall.

Point is due to easterly trough, Chennai would receive rains from 15th or 16th of November and this was as per Mr. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre. It is known that easterly trough is an elongated area of relatively low atmospheric pressure. He explained about how Bulbul might make a landfall after weakening and how it would not influence the rainfall that might begin along the southeast coast including Chennai in the next week.

The condition of the sky is likely to be partially cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively for the next 2 days in Chennai.

Point to be noted is cyclone Bulbul is gathering strength by pulling away all the north-easterly winds and Chennai city has been witnessing a change in the wind direction. It must be noted that the north-westerly winds or dry land breeze blowing towards the east coast has led to warmer day.

In Chennai, Nungambakkam recorded 35.1 degree Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 34.7 degrees Celsius that is 5.4 degrees and 4.8 degrees above the normal. The amazing piece of information is in Chennai the temperature has never touched 35 degrees in the last 10 years in the month of November. On 5th November 2016, the maximum day temperature recorded was 34.7 degrees Celsius.

It was later pointed out by Mr. Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at Skymet weather that after cyclone has made landfall then there would be a change in the direction of the wind once again. Point here is south-east coast of India including Chennai would get back the north-easterly winds resulting in scattered rainfall.
