Potholes present at Mint bus terminus is worrying many commuters and MTC staffs

Getting down from the bus and breaking the legs has become a little frequent occurrence now in the Mint bus terminus!!
The presence of many potholes at this bus terminus is creating issues for the commuters and also for the MTC crew. It must be noted that in the last week a woman passenger broke her leg after getting down from the bus at this place. It is revealed that in the past month this was second such incident. This bus terminus is also known as Vallalar Nagar bus terminus is known.
It must be noted that the tarmac at this bust stand has not been repaired ever since it was opened 5 years ago. It is revealed that the red-tapism at CMRL and MTC overland transfer was the reason for the tarmac not being repaired.
For the purpose of facilitating the metro rail and bridge works at Old Washemenpet, operations ware shifted to the present terminus from the original location near Mint clock tower. It is important to mention that this is the transit point for north Chennai residents and has at least 20,000 footfalls every day.
Bus route numbers 37G, 248 and 157 connect the terminus with Iyappanthangal, Pudur and Red Hills respectively are known. It is shocking that the terminus does not have basic facilities like clean toilets and drinking water. It was later pointed out by a resident of Thiruvottiyur that the only toilet that is present at the far eastern corner lacks a proper flush and it stinks. The route rationalization by MTC has reduced the number of buses. This has led to long hours of waiting under the scorching sun.
An official belonging to MTC spoke about how water-filled potholes limit visibility and bus drivers end up driving through these potholes. The risk of accidents has become more due to the presence of stray cattle as there is no compound wall. He later shed light on how the construction of roads and walls would be taken up only after CMRL hands over the land to MTC. He concluded that the process is underway and works would start soon.
